Extracurricular programs provide students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills and to learn the value of working on a team. Studies have consistently shown that students who participate in school activities and athletic programs make higher grades and have better attendance than students who do not participate.  In fact, 95% of Fortune 500 executives participated in high school athletics or activities.

This Division works with Region Centers and school sites to achieve the goal of delivering high quality activities programs at all school levels and high quality athletic programs at the middle school and high school level.  At the school site level, the Division works closely in conjunction with principals, athletic directors, activities directors, athletic trainers, coaches, middle school athletic/activities facilitators, and club sponsors to ensure compliance with Board Rules and guidelines as well as policies of the Greater Miami Athletic Conference (GMAC) and Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) when applicable.

In addition, the Division of Athletics, Activities and Accreditation also supervises and monitors  the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS/CASI) process in order to meet SACS CASI accreditation standards to ensure that our District’s graduates are graduating from certified schools with appropriate preparation to enter college or the work force.

The Division of Athletics/Activities and Accreditation encourages you to please call and inquire about any questions that you may have in these areas.
